Single photon light emitting diodes based on 2D materials (Supervisor: T. MSUPERVISORuuml;ller)

Short bio: Matthias Paur Matthias received his BSc in Electrical Engineering and his MSc in Microelectronics and Photonics from the TU Wien in 2013 and 2015, respectively. In 2014, he studied for one semester at the University of Illinois in the USA.Matthias recently started his PhD under the supervision of Thomas MTEXTBIOuuml;ller

Summary of the PhD project:
In my PhD project, electrically driven single photon sources based on localized states in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) will be designed, fabricated and characterized. The single photon sources will be modeled by microscopic theory to understand the electronic structure and origin of localized states in TMDs.

Thoughts on TU-D: The underlying physical phenomena of localized states in TMDs, however, are not yet completely understood, in particular on a microscopic level. I believe that the broad expertise encompassed within TU-D will allow for highly successful collaborations in order to clarify the light-matter interaction in these materials.
